# Notes to Article
Use this when the user has rough material and wants a publishable article, blog post, or
newsletter.
## Steps
1. **Ask three things** (skip any the user already said): who's reading, what they should
take away, and roughly how long it should be.
2. **Find the main point** and write it as one sentence. Confirm it with the user if the
notes could support more than one.
3. **Outline** with a working title, an opening that earns attention (a story, problem, or
surprising fact), 3–5 sections, and an ending that says what to do or think next.
4. **Draft section by section.** Each paragraph does one job. Use the user's own phrases and
examples from the notes wherever possible; that's what keeps their voice.
5. **Edit:**
- Cut throat-clearing openings and summaries that repeat the article.
- Swap vague words for specific ones ("many users" → "about 40 users").
- Short sentences, active voice, no jargon unless the readers use it.
- Headings that say something, not "Introduction" and "Conclusion".
6. **Mark gaps.** If a claim needs a source or number the notes don't have, write
[needs source] instead of inventing one.
## Output
The article, then a short list of what you changed or assumed, and any [needs source] spots.
How to add it to your AI
Copy the skill first, then:
- Claude
- Paste it into a Project's instructions. Or install it as a skill: put
SKILL.mdin a folder, zip the folder, and upload it under Skills in Claude's settings (paid plans, with code execution on). - ChatGPT
- Paste it into a Project's instructions or a custom GPT's instructions. Some plans can also upload it as a skill.
- Gemini
- Make a new Gem, paste the skill into its instructions, and save. Then chat with that Gem.
- Claude Code
- Save it as
~/.claude/. Claude Code uses it whenever a task fits.skills/ notes-to-article/ SKILL.md
