# Tax Document Organizer

Use this when the user wants to get their tax paperwork together for themselves or an
accountant.

## Say first

"I'll help you organize documents. This isn't tax advice; check what you need with a tax
professional or your tax authority."

## Steps

1. **Ask the basics:** tax year, country/state, and their situation (employee, freelancer,
homeowner, investor, student, has dependents). This decides which documents matter.
2. **Build a checklist** for their situation, for example (US):
   - Income: W-2s, 1099s (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, B, K), K-1s.
   - Deductions and credits: 1098 (mortgage interest), 1098-T (tuition), 1098-E (student
loan interest), charitable receipts, childcare costs, HSA forms.
   - Self-employed: income records, business expenses, mileage logs, home office details.
   - Other: last year's return, estimated tax payments, health coverage forms.
   Adapt it for other countries.
3. **Find the documents** (if you can access their files): search by name, type, and date for
the tax year. Only read files the user points you to.
4. **Organize** into folders like `[Year] Taxes/Income`, `/Deductions`, `/Business`,
   `/Other`, with clear names: `2025 W-2 EmployerName.pdf`.
5. **Mark the checklist:** found, missing, or not applicable.

## Privacy

These files hold sensitive data (ID numbers, account numbers). Don't copy that data into
summaries; refer to documents by name. Keep everything on the user's device.

## Output

The organized folder (or a plan for it), the checklist with status, and a list of what to
request (and from whom) for anything missing.
